Jobs, Internships & Co-op

Two places to look for work as a U of A student. Start with whichever one matches what you are after.

Check your work permit first. On-campus work, off-campus work, and Co-op placements each have different rules for study permit holders, and a Co-op or internship placement usually needs its own work permit. Confirm what you are allowed to do before you apply, not after you are offered something.

Other places students find work

  • UASU Opportunities

Student-friendly roles with the University of Alberta Students' Union.

  • Your faculty or department

Research assistantships, teaching support, and program-specific roles are often advertised locally rather than on a central board — ask your department administrator or check its website.

  • Engineering Co-op

If you are in an Engineering Co-op program, your placements are arranged through the Faculty's Co-op office rather than a public job board. Engineering Co-op office
